Reflection

Stepping into the fast-paced world of external audit at a Big 4 firm has been an immersive introduction to financial assurance. I am currently learning how to navigate complex financial reporting landscapes and understanding the critical role of accuracy and integrity in maintaining market trust.

Student Intern

UNSW Tax and Business Advisory Clinic
Sep 2025 - Nov 2025

Reflection

This role was pivotal in bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world client interaction. Beyond the technical aspects of resolving PAYG issues and using Xero, the true value lay in developing empathy and communication skills. Conducting client interviews taught me how to translate complex tax concepts into accessible language for individuals in need. It made me realise how many people are quietly struggling behind numbers and forms. They are not just cases with tax issues but real life of people. Through this experience, I've come to see why it's called a clinic rather than an office. For me, it feels less like processing paperwork and more like offering a small piece of care to someone who's already exhausted. Even though we can't fix their whole life, helping them untangle a tax problem can remove one heavy burden, and in that moment it feels like we're offering a small beam of light into a pretty dark situation.

Software Engineer Intern

Vaulta
Apr 2025 - Jun 2025

Reflection

Working individually on a battery traceability project pushed me to be a self-starter. I learned that software engineering is not just about writing code, but about solving sustainability challenges. Developing a solution to track battery lifecycles by scanning serial codes gave me a tangible sense of how tech can drive environmental accountability.

Reflection

Consulting for an international client, Adevi, taught me the power of data-driven strategy. Through conducting SWOT and competitor analyses, I realized that research is only as good as the insights you draw from it. Delivering a report labeled as "outstanding quality" validated my ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines.
